The Sartell City Council has approved the acceptance of a $250,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Local Trail Construction Grant Program. This funding will support Phase 2 of the Mill District Trail, a project aimed at enhancing recreational opportunities within the community.
Phase 1 of the trail is currently under construction, also supported by a DNR grant. The total cost for Phase 2 is estimated at $344,300, with the city’s 2026 budget and 10-year Facilities Master Plan accounting for the Mill District Trail. Since acquiring the Mill District in 2023, Sartell has secured nearly $1.2 million in grants for planning, design, and redevelopment of the site.
With the grant approval, the city plans to open Phase 2 for construction bids and commence construction this summer, further advancing Sartell’s commitment to providing quality outdoor amenities for its residents.
